I provide individual therapy services for adolescents and adults. My approach is rooted in person-centered theory and relational-cultural theory and informed by developmental attachment theory, polyvagal theory, and interpersonal-neurobiology.
Individual sessions are typically talk-therapy based in nature, but may integrate expressive and creative art therapies when helpful. Adolescents in particular gravitate towards engaging in creative offerings in the therapy room, allowing for more integrated self-expression and movement up and down the developmental continuum.
I specialize in providing Internal Family Systems informed EMDR therapy, and frequently integrate it into talk therapy. EMDR is a structured approach that was originally created to treat post-traumatic stress. The effectiveness of EMDR has been extensively researched, and it is considered an evidence based treatment not only for PTSD, but also depression, anxiety disorders, and other distressing life experiences.
